Can more than one person use each Stellar Mic while recording?

Yes, but with limitations. Our AI Enhancement engine is optimized for recordings with up to 4 mics shared by 4 people. Voices outside this setup may affect audio quality. There are a few options for capturing a greater number of voices, as described below. However, for best results we recommend assigning one voice to each Stellar Mic.

Option 1: record multiple voices on one Stellar Mic

  • Pros: possible to capture quality voice recording
  • Cons: requires that participants take care not to speak simultaneously and it can limit the quality of the automated enhancement. Care should be taken to minimise mechanical noice if movement of the Stellar Mic is required.

Option 2: use the Space Recorder as a 5th microphone

  • Pros: provides high quality result for the fifth voice recording
  • Cons: requires that the Space Recorder is positioned and used like a traditional studio microphone and this limits the ability to capture and remove ambience from the recording

Option 3: use only the Space Recorder as a central room mic for all voices (no Stellar Mics)

  • Pros: allows many voices to be captured, with ambience
  • Cons: voices seem to be farther away from the listener (i.e. not studio quality recording) and there will be limited option for enhancement in Nomono Cloud.

While all these options may work, we recommend that you carry out a test recording prior to committing to one of these methods, as this will enable you to choose the best option for your environment and audio sources.
