Find your MAC address

Are you having a tough time connecting your Sound Capsule to a restricted Wi-Fi network? Some restricted networks may allow for you to access the network by adding your Sound Capsule's MAC address to a list of approved addresses. This article guides you in how to find your Sound Capsule's MAC address.

How does it work?

The MAC address helps identify and distinguish one device from another on a network. It is used by routers and switches to direct data to the correct device within a local network. Unlike IP addresses, which can change or be assigned dynamically, the MAC address remains constant and is associated with the hardware of the device.

Find your Sound Capsule's MAC-address:

Step 1:

  • Wake up your Sound Capsule by removing the lid.

Step 2:

  • Open up the Companion App on your mobile phone.

Step 3:

  • Select your Sound Capsule.

  • Tap the settings icon.

  • Select "About".

Step 8:

Locate the text "Wi-Fi MAC" and note the address to the right. This is the MAC Address that belongs to your Sound Capsule, and it can be used to connect to a restricted network.
