Understanding Studio App and Stellar Mic Recording States

Learn how the Studio App and Stellar Mics indicate recording status and system activity.

The Studio App can be used to manage your Nomono account and workspace settings, quickly access Nomono Studio Cloud, and control your Sound Capsules.

In this article, however, we focus specifically on the Stellar Kit and the recording screen, which appears once you have selected your Stellar Kit in the app.

Within this context, the Studio App has two main roles:

  • Controlling your recording

  • Monitoring the status and progress of that recording

The app is designed to surface the most important information at the right time, helping you quickly confirm that everything is working as expected.

Below is one of the most important states to be aware of.

Recording State

When you press the Record button, the Studio App prepares (“arms”) both Stellar Mics for recording - provided that they are:

  • Powered on and sufficiently charged

  • Within range of your phone or tablet (have a Bluetooth connection)

If these conditions are met, the following will happen immediately when recording starts:

  1. Active recording lanes

    The lanes for the recording device (the phone or tablet running the app) and both Stellar Mics turn red. This indicates that all three devices are active and participating in the recording.

  2. Recording controls and timer

    The Record button changes to a Stop button, and the recording timer above it begins counting upward.

  3. Stellar Mic LED behavior

    Each Stellar Mic shows a steady LED in its assigned color. The LED should not pulse, blink, alternate with white, or show any other pattern while recording.

Important note

If any of these indicators behave differently than described above, it may indicate that something has gone wrong during the recording. If this happens, we recommend stopping the recording as soon as possible to reduce the risk of losing audio.
